Now What

w/ sketchbook pro on ipad

Here, have an elephant.

I just watched Mickey and the Beanstalk for the first time in about 15 years.  Still funny.  Still awesome.
This sketch has nothing to do with Mickey and the Beanstalk.

I was watching a TED talk last night about new discoveries on Titan, one of Saturn's moons, and saw the first picture taken from the surface of Titan with a probe.  Did you know we sent a probe to Titan? Because I didn't know we sent a probe to Titan.  It is officially the most distant man-made object to have landed on another planet.  Dang:

Now some doodles.

25 Hours in a Day

Oh the things
you can stumble on to if you're awake long enough.  I am a proud new owner of the Meetup app. I have it to thank for getting met to today's (and many more upcoming) Saturday morning figure drawing session and for introducing me to a very welcoming group of artists.

Mish Mash

I'm a big fan of throwing kitchen sinks into your sketchbooks with anything and everything that catches your eye and the most left-field ideas your brain decides to spit out at you through your drawing hand.  Here are a few pages from the current one with some character designs, observational sketches, caricatures, and drawing exercises.

A few pages have fold-outs with newsprint sketches that I've added in.  So if you see any floating arrows in roughly rectangular spaces...

more sketches

A few from the catch-all newsprint sketchbook.  Some observational, some from my skull.  I have drawings coming out of my ears in this house.  I'm amazed my roommates haven't smothered me in paper while I sleep by now. I think another DIY shelfspace attachment is necessary for the desk.

Conte and Some Graphite

A few more... Hoping to start on putting some stuff up from the main sketchbook today.

Brush Pen

Little brushies from the mini sketchbook over Mother's Day weekend.  Some airport, home, sports watching, and beach observations.  Aaaaaand I'm calling it for the day.  I think that will do for the first day of bloggage.  I'll continue to update stuff en masse so I can catch up to where I am now, progress-wise.  I've got a few months backlogged.  Tomorrow's project!  I'm hoping the blog will also help me to just put all of this crap somewhere in hopes of tracking how all this goes.  Current goal: get better and get into animation program somewhere.

Also! MY FIRST EVER LIGHTBOX AND DISC JUST CAME IN THE MAIL! AND IT HAS A PEGBOARD AND EVERYTHING!  Look at me! I'm Eric Goldberg wannabe no. 1,000,000!  (Mr. Goldberg, if you ever stumble onto my lowly blog, know that my only professional hope is to one day be able to draw like you)  Expect some super rough pencil tests soon...ish.

A few from the pocket sketchbook - gestures from the local pub, a Berkeley cafe, and a post-dinner-with-family reflection of sorts:
